Spirit of Demo
Painstakingly carved out of the desert sands, or something like that, by Rob Stow at Alaska Studios, with design work by Ted Legal and post-production by Pascal Barras, Spirit of Demo is slightly ironic but great fun, really. Five tracks, some of which can be heard via the media player at the top of this page. All filler and no killer. Oh no, wait! We meant the other round. Obviously.

The CD itself (no idea how many are left, but it’s a limited number) can be had for £3; or download the whole thing for free via bandcamp (that’s right, we’re directing you away from this website – goodbye). Go on, go on, go on, go. Give it a go!

Geek of the Week
“Geek of the Week”, like “Wave or Particle”, was one of the songs we threw at the organisers of the geekpop virtual festival in 2009. It’s been suggested that somebody make a heart-warming comedy so that this song can be used as the soundtrack. Fine by us …

PS There is also a re-recorded version of “Geek of the week” available for download or just for plain, good, old-fashioned online listening over at the geekpop website. It was produced in autumn 2010 for the Geek Calendar trailer.

PPS We’ve also contributed a song to the 2011 Geekpop album Geek Like Me: “An Element Sends a Postcard Home”. It seems to be a song about some abtract, possibly entirely theoretical aspect of the periodic table.

PPPS And if you’re very good, and sign up for the SOP mailing list (via spiritofplay1@gmail.com), or follow us on Twitter, we’ll send you yet another esoteric piece of geekery, called “Difference Engine” .

July 4, 2014: Download – if you dare – Please Plant These Songs, an eclectic compilation from the likes of The Lovely Eggs, The Sound of the Ladies, James Murray, Georgia Ruth, Treecreeper and one escapee from Spirit of Play.
